A Song for My Father

This readymade gift for babyboomer dads - part of
a new line of releases only sold at Target - works a sweet
concept: songs by famous musician dads performed by their
professional musician offspring. It starts strong with Salvador
Santana’s “Evil Ways,” but quickly turns
uneven (unless your dad has a weakness for Jim Croce and Harry
Chapin). Still, there are enough charming tracks (Carnie &
Wendy Wilson’s “Warmth of the Sun,” Devon
Allman’s “Midnight Rider,” Ky Mani Marley’s
“Soul Shake Down Party”) to make a good half or
so worth downloading into Pop’s new iPod.
