A Song for My Father (Target/180 Music, 2007)
The theme album A Song for My Father is part of an appealing
new series developed exclusively for the Target store chain
in the United States.
The concept is intriguing. The producers contacted several
musically talented sons and daughters of pop legends to sing
songs made famous by their fathers.
The young singers and musicians include Salvador Santana,
Sarah Lee Guthrie, Jen Chapin, Ben Taylor, Carnie and Wendy
Wilson, Chynna Phillips, Louise Goffin, A.J. Croce and others.
The highlights of the album are “Evil Ways” by
Salvador Santana (Clarence Henry), “Soul Shake Down
Party” Ky-Mani Marley (Bob Marley), “Midnight
Rider” Devon Allman’s Honeytribe (Gregg Allman)
and “Coming In To Los Angeles” Sarah Lee Guthrie
(Arlo Guthrie).
The rest of the artists and songs included are: “Travelin’
Man” Matthew And Gunnar Nelson (Ricky Nelson); “Lover’s
Cross” A.J. Croce (Jim Croce); “Cat’s In
The Cradle” Jen Chapin (Harry Chapin); “Up On
The Roof” Louise Goffin (Gerry Goffin & Carole King);

Moon” Ivan Neville (Aaron Neville & Joel Neville);
